Jackson Island Predictions

     I find it  strange that Jim could tell if a storm was coming by the tweeting of the birds. I also find it strange when Jim said killing a bird would bring bad luck. When I researched Old Wives' Tales none of the research talked about birds and fortune, or birds and weather. I guess it fitted the time period of the setting of the story, but today would seem strange for me although I do use some Old Wives' Tales to predict what might happen later in a day or week. I am sure that some people use some kind of superstition to see what could or would happen, like Jim used the birds on Jackson Island.
