He Done Hucked Up

I already enjoy The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, even though we are not that far into it. I like how Huck is thinking for himself as a young boy. When Huck is with the widow Douglas, she is always trying to get him to act right and think right. She is a very religious women and is trying to make Huck religious. Huck doesn't see the same way that the widow does. The widow is always talking about this place that she is going to go that is great and where they will fly around with wings. Huck then say that he does not want to do there because he does not want to be with the widow. I think this part is funny but it also shows how Huck thinks for himself. Another way that he thinks for himself is when he is with his friends and they are "killing and robbing." Tom says that they robbed so much stuff and killed so many people, but in reality they took candy from littler kids. Huck realizes this and thinks that Tom is childish. I believe that Huck is mature for age but also careless and naïve.

I thought it was hilarious when he was talking about not wanting to be with the widow. Its just funny to think that he was thinking he'd rather be in hell than in heaven with the widow. I love how Huck is very straight forward in his thinking, and isn't afraid to be himself. It makes the novel a lot more interesting.
