Immature Huck
First off why would you touch a dead snake, but then lay it next to your only friend at the time? Its just nonsense and immaturity. Huck is a young boy, but he should be more careful. So Jim gets bit by the mate of the dead snake like what are the odds? So now Huck and Jim are even more superstitious. Jim's leg swelled up and he could of died! A uneducated runaway slave and a young immature boy..... seems like the perfect couple. Huck is lucky he didn't kill Jim. Huck being immature adds to the story and that's probably why Twain included it in the story. Hopefully later in the story Huck realizes how dumb he was and I also hope he grows more mature for the safety of himself and Jim. Mark Twain probably has a reason why he made Huck so immature so I honestly cant wait to see what happens next in the novel of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

You seem a little surprised at the fact that Huck touched a snake. Back then people didn't know what snakes were capable of, plus they were of adventurous sorts. I think it is comical that Huck played a joke on Jim, it just took a turn for the worst.
Huck really isn't that immature though. Through what he's been through with his pap, he's actually really calm, cause most kids are messed up mentally from abusive alcoholic dads. I think Huck understands that he made a mistake with the whole snake incident, and he'll make sure to watch what he does the rest of the story. One mistake doesn't make you immature. But Huck is very lucky that Jim is alive and okay.
I don't think that he is immature just because he tried to pull a prank and it failed it happens all the time. For someone who was raised in such a horrible way and hasn't even gone to school is he super smart even at his age. You may want to re-word this.

I do not believe Huck is immature and defiantly not for his age. I believe it was just the boy coming out in him. Huck tends to be a bit careless in thinking that he is invincible. But most every young person shares that characteristic.
Sometimes you just get bored. Huck was pulling a prank and no matter how bad the prank is its still just a prank. If it was me who pulled that prank I would have been cracking up when the snake bit Jim. That was probably the best part of the prank. Now if I was Jim then I would have been a little mad at first but its only a prank so I would have calmed down.
Huck is just a kid. I don't think him doing that was too immature. Everyone pulls silly pranks on people. His just got a little out of hand.
Cut Huck some slack. It was actually pretty funny what he did with the snake. Like who wouldn't do that? And its not like he knew the dead snakes mate was gonna bite Jim. I feel like if he knew, then he probably wouldn't have done it. Also when you said that Jim was his only friend, like what does that have to do with anything? I personally don/t think Jim would just abandon him or not be Hucks friend anymore just cause of a little prank.
