observations
I found it incredibly intriguing that the older woman knew Huck was in a disguise only by observing his mannerisms. I remember seeing this in the movie a long time ago, and I always thought it was cool that she could tell. Just being noticing that Huck caught something in his legs by closing them, instead of opening them is very interesting to me. Obviously, Mrs. Loftus is a very wise woman and has been around the block a few times. I do not think that her ideas of what a girl acts like would work in our society at all. People have changed immensely and the expectations and the way we act are not the same anymore.

I do agree too that is was very strange that Mrs. Loftus knew that Huck was actually a boy by the way he acted. Society has changed immensely since those times and mannerisms of people are very different now. She is a wise women because she studied his actions and talked with curiosity of Huck. I have a feeling she might know that it is actually Huck in disguise.
Bro I agree with you on this 100%. it is so wild how she noticed it by his mannerisms.
I believe the reason she could tell is because the way society was back then. Mannerisms were so ever important for young ladies and I do think that a boy that has been living off the land wouldn't be able to live up to those standards. Not that he could help it. What I think is strange, is the fact she couldn't tell he was a boy by just looking at him. He's been living in the woods and with that being said, I doubt he is the best put together boy much less a well put together girl. Then again he most likely hasn't gone through puberty and I don't believe they had eye glasses back then. If they did, then she needs to go have a vision test.
