Surprised

       Though this story did take place quite a long time ago, some of the characters oblivious actions still come as a shock to me. As Huck had planned his escape, he had the bright idea of making it seem as it was a murder. But while looking for Huck, the searchers used things to try and attract Huck, that would be opposed to using today. They used bread with quicksilver, also known as mercury, to try and attract Huck. Though Huck knew what was going on, he still hid from the searchers, all the while, snacking on the bait used for him. It just shocks me that they had no understanding of things like mercury, and the dangers of ingesting it.
