I like how Huck is incredibly realistic about his daily encounters. Obviously with the way his father is, he was forced to grow up faster than most kids. His imagination is not as keen as his friend Tom, and he doesn't quite understand why the just pretend doing the things that they do, rather than actually do it.
Huck's dad is very selfish and hates that his son has the ability to be better than he was. Taking Huck far into the woods proves this because Huck can't possibly go anywhere other than stay in the cabin all day. I expect him to escape soon and that Huck's dad will not be happy about this at all.
