Huck's Lifestyle
Huck is placed in a very
interesting situation. First, his alcoholic father that has been missing most
his life can either beat him while drunk, or want him to himself so they can
live together in the woods. I cannot relate to this storyline so far, but I know
of some situations other people could relate to. Huck had a great turning point
in his life where he was learning to read and write, stop swearing, and stop
smoking. When his father came along and snatched him away, all of that went
away. It's great that Huck sort of enjoys this new lifestyle, but he would be
better off with the widow than his father. Also, I feel like Judge Thatcher has
a more personal relationship with Huck than a normal judge would. He may have
been around him all of his life and knows what Huck's gone through. I'm anxious to see how Huck enjoys his newest lifestyle; alone on an island, helping himself to whatever comes along.
