Is Huck Dumb, or is he Smart?

Every night, over and over again you constantly get abused and beaten. So you think of a solution, and that solution is to fake your death and run away.  After all of the supplies are gathered together you fake your own death and then you run off and float down a river in your canoe.  Is this a Dumb or smart plan? Well Huck is a young boy who has kind of always done whatever he wants and he spends most of the day outside exploring. While Huck explores he probably picks up some survival skills and he was pretty smart when faking his death. And Huck has pretty much been surviving in the wild when living with Pap because Pap never took care of him. But once again Huck is a young small boy who might not even have a clue how to survive in the wild. How is Huck suppose to get clean water and food? So is Huck's decision a dumb or smart decision?

I truly believe it was a smart decision. Great question, and points by the way. But if I was Huck, I'd take my chances in the wild too if it meant getting away from a drunken lunatic who tried to kill me. If Pap did it once, the odds of him trying to kill Huck again are pretty high.

While I agree with your points on Huck, I believe he made the right move. If Pap had abused him multiple times before it would only be time until he tried to kill Huck. So walking in Huck's shoes I would run to the wild too.
